SCARBOROUGH — After more than a year of design, research and testing, the new Street Devils division made its Beech Ridge Motor Speedway debut on Sunday.
Former Thursday Thunder champion Jeff Walker of North Waterboro won the inaugural event, winning the 15-lap feature over Super Late Model driver Bobby Timmons of Windham by half a car length. Darry Quinlan completed the podium.
The Street Devils, the track’s latest entry-level division, returns to action this Saturday, July 22, as part of NASCAR Nite. Qualifying begins at 7 p.m. on a program that will also include the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series, Sport Series and Wildcat divisions.
The Street Devils feature a car “X, a project of the Cusack and Wolfe families and will feature a different driver every week. Timmons, who said “this is the most fun I’ve had in a race car in a long time,” piloted the No. X on Sunday. The car is designed to be driven by more experienced racers with an eye on mentoring and inspiring new competition to join the division.
In addition to Saturday, the Street Devils will also join Thursday Thunder, Car Wars and special events during the remainder of the season. For a complete schedule, or to find more information about the Street Devils via the division’s Facebook page, CLICK HERE.
