Speedway Crowns Its 2014 Thursday Thunder Champions

SCARBOROUGH — Eight drivers in eight divisions put the wraps on the 2014 Thursday Thunder season with Beech Ridge Motor Speedway track championships last week.

Headlining the group was Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour driver Matt Bourgoine of Newport, who used a dominating first half of the summer to roll to his third consecutive Thursday Thunder title in the division. Joining Bourgoine as multi-time champions were Kaitlynn Leavitt in the Ladies League and Jeremy Morais in the Mad Bomber varsity ranks.

Dave Stone Jr. (Varsity) and Noah Jalbert (JV) were the two Beetle Bug champions — with Jalbert scoring a Thursday Thunder-best six feature wins in eight races. Jeff Gillette (Varsity) and Matt Curtis (JV) took the Mighty Truck honors, and Brandon Lussier won the Mad Bomber JV championship.

Racing continues at Beech Ridge this week with a pair of autograph sessions. Car Wars returns on Friday night for “Smash ‘N Graphs,” while NASCAR Nite hosts its second Autograph Night of the season on Saturday.

Both events begin at 7 p.m.
