SCARBOROUGH — Mike Rowe picked up right where he left off.
Rowe dominated the second half of the Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep 150 on Saturday afternoon, rolling off to the PASS North Series victory on Opening Day at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Reigning Oxford 250 champion Travis Benjamin of Morrill was second, while JR Motorsports Nationwide Series driver Austin Theriault — a Fort Kent native — was third.
Rowe is a two-time track champion at Beech Ridge, including the 2014 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series title.
In other action on the afternoon, another former track champion — Dan McKeage of Gorham — won the 50-lap PASS Sportsman feature, while Mitch Miller was victorious in the PASS Modified main event.
Matt Bourgoine won the 25-lap Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour feature.
Beech Ridge will be open on the next two Saturdays for open practice for all of its NASCAR Nite and Thursday Thunder divisions.
The track will be open from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, and Saturday, May 17, for the sessions. The grandstands will be open free of charge for the practices.
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing takes the green flag for the 2014 season at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, with three divisions. The Pro Series, Sport Series and Wildcats will all be in action on opening night.
