NASCAR’S FINAL COUNTDOWN: Point Battles Come To Conclusion

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Hall of Famer Steve Berry of Gorham may have won the battle last weekend — winning the 40-lap Pro Series feature for his first victory of the season — but it was what happened elsewhere that set the stage for the season-long wars.

This Saturday, Aug. 31, the final points race of the season for all four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions will decide the 2013 track champions.

The Wildcat ranks have perhaps the most hotly contested chase, with Cole Watson seeking a fifth track championship. Watson has just a six-point advantage over Lewis Anderson, with Dan Wink only 17 points back.

The Pro Series has whittled down to a two-man battle between track champions Mike Rowe and Dan McKeage. Rowe is just 15 points ahead of McKeage and the Naughty 40 Racing team.

All of the champions will be decided beginning with qualifying races at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by feature events at 7:30 p.m.

Also this week, the final CAR WARS of the season hits the track for some mayhem on Friday, Aug. 30. In addition to the carnage on the track, the second “Smash ‘n ‘Graphs” autograph session of the season in scheduled.

In honor of Back To School week, the “Fool Bus” will be in action for a fiery ramp jump. Children of all ages are encouraged to bring artwork depicting themselves on the bus. The artwork will be attached to the bus outside the main gate prior to the show, and those children who participate will be “riding the bus” as it makes its breathtaking leap through fire on the frontstretch.
