SCARBOROUGH — Garrett Hall has a knack for being patient.
On Saturday night, Hall’s patience paid off as he survived all the carnage taking place at the front of the field to win the 35-lap Sport Series feature for his first victory of the 2014 season. Hall held off Sally Gherardi in a drag race off the final corner to close within three points of the division lead through three races.
Clyde Hennessey finished third.
The Sport Series event was a prelude to this weekend’s premier event of the season — the Budweiser 125. That race will roll at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14.
In the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series division, Kyle DeSouza led every single lap in the 50-lap feature event for his first career Beech Ridge Motor Speedway victory. Steve Carrier and Mike Landry finished second and third, respectively, giving all three drivers in the Top-3 their best finishes of the young season to date.
Brian Caswell continued to make history in the Wildcat ranks, winning his third straight 30-lap feature to open the season. Caswell became just the second driver in the last 20 years to win each of the first three events of the season and the first in the Wildcats.
Matt Dow won the first three Road Runner events of 2010.
Jon Brill was second at the checkered flag, while David Vaughn finished third.
Two ISMA Supermodified drivers — Bentley Warren and Chris Perley — will be at Beech Ridge this Saturday night to perform a live, 10-lap test session of their Supers during the race program. The drivers are gearing up for the ISMA Bentley Warren Classic race at Oxford Plains Speedway on Friday, June 20.
