Veteran Charlie Colby of Newcastle survived a wild 50-lap main event Saturday night to become the first Pro Series driver to record three wins in a season since 2010, capping off a memorable night of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action.
Colby grabbed the lead late in the going and sailed off to the win, leaving past champions Bill Rodgers of Old Orchard Beach and Mike Rowe of Turner in his wake. With his third-place finish, Rowe took command of the Pro Series standings with just three races remaining on the schedule.
The largest Pro Series field of the season — 24 cars — took the green flag.
Defending Sport Series champion Donny Morse cruised to his first victory of the season by taking that division’s 35-lap feature event, while “Big Papi” David Vaughn scored his first Wildcat win in more than a year.
Shawn Brackett added another win to his career resume in the Road Runner main event to kick off the night’s racing.
