SCARBOROUGH — Corey Bubar of Windham took off on a couple of late-race restarts, besting a huge field of cars on Opening Night to win the 50-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series feature event on Saturday night.
“Those restarts!” were what Bubar credited as the difference on the night in the No. 42 machine after starting on the outside pole following a 12-lap heat race win earlier in the night.
Bubar, returning to full-time competition this season at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, held off Dave Farrington Jr. and Bobby Timmons III for the win. A total of 32 Pro Series entrants were at the track for the season opener.
Bobby Nadeau scored a dramatic Sport Series win earlier in the night, coming out on top of a wild three-car battle at the checkered flag. Nadeau held off former division champion Sally Gherardi and rookie Brandon Barker for the 35-lap win.
A familiar face visited Wildcat Victory Lane, as Brian Caswell cruised to a dominant performance in a brand-new No. 47 ride. David Vaughn and Brian Picard, making the move over from the Thursday Thunder ranks, rounded out the Top-3 at the conclusion of the 30-lap event.
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action returns to Beech Ridge this Saturday, May 31, at 7 p.m., with all three divisions in action.
